Jon Layne is a Portland native, currently residing in Damascus, Oregon.
He took up photography in 1983, after a river trip through the Grand Canyon.
He shoots mainly outdoor and travel photography, exploring the connections between beauty in the natural world, and a sense of spirituality derived from close observation.
Skills were sharpened during annual camping and hiking trips to Mt. Rainier to capture the wildflowers and waterfalls of this great alpine park.
The transition to digital led to wider artistic possibilities, and a great deal of frustration, upgrading equipment, learning about computers and struggling with software.
After retiring, he launched on a more thorough exploration of Mexico and Central America by land and sea, with visits to Mayan ruins, active volcanoes, and tropical islands. He hopes to continue covering all the Pacific Coast from Alaska to Antarctica for as long as possible.
Kevynne Layne is a graphic designer, fiber artist, fabulous pie maker, and avid birder and bird photographer.
